Thread lift

A natural lifting effect, without surgery.

Thread lift
The treatment

Thread lift

The thread lift is a non-surgical aesthetic medicine technique aimed at correcting skin laxity of the face and neck for a natural lifting effect. The technique involves inserting special threads (barbed or fitted with cones) under the skin using a needle or cannula; once in place, they are tightened to lift the tissues and redefine the contours of the face.

Absorbable threads

Made from biodegradable materials (such as polydioxanone, PDO), they are naturally absorbed within 6 to 12 months. Their firming effects can last 12 to 24 months thanks to the collagen stimulation their presence induces.

Detail

Indications

  • Redefine the oval of the face
  • Lift the jowls
  • Soften marionette lines and nasolabial folds
  • Lift the tail of the eyebrow (“foxy eyes” effect)
  • Firm the skin of the neck

The procedure

It is essential to consult a qualified practitioner to assess skin elasticity and determine the best approach: thread lift, complementary injections or a surgical facelift.

The procedure is carried out in the clinic, under local anaesthetic. Inserting the threads is relatively quick (about 15 minutes), even though the whole procedure, including the anaesthetic, can take up to an hour.

Detail

Benefits

  • Minimally invasive procedure, without major surgery or visible scars
  • Natural results, without a “pulled” or frozen look
  • Recovery usually quick
  • Stimulation of natural collagen production

Drawbacks and risks

  • Moderate effectiveness: not a replacement for a surgical facelift in cases of significant sagging
  • Common post-operative effects (swelling, bruising, discomfort)
  • Rare risks: visible threads, infection, inflammation or asymmetry
  • Risk of complications during a later surgical facelift
